Saeed Hajjarian: “There were three stages in women’s political participation in Iran prior to the 1979 Islamic Revolution the first of which was aristocratic. The second was liberal and the third had characteristics of radicalism. Maryam-Firooz Farman Farma, Mahnaz Afkhami, and Ashraf Dehghani can be representatives of these three periods. All three are more or less in tune with their European role-models.”.
